Another day, another week Lady. Do you realize – assuming all goes to plan – I will be on the other coast in a mere 30 days?! On the one hand it seems an eternity, but on the other it seems I might not get half of what I need to done. I was talking to my aunt the other night; “stay in touch Brendan, July ! Is right around the corner.”

Intellectually I know this, but the reality of the time left – or lack thereof – did not fully sink until I started packing in earnest today. There are still a lot of unanswered questions Lady, but I continue to have faith that in the end the Universe will let me know how to proceed. :: chuckle :: I can imagine a few folks who thought they knew me reading that paragraph.

Did I tell you Lady, that I fixed my chair yesterday? Not the Cadillac, but the faithful jalopy which continues to run after years of use. I thought the problem lay in that water had gotten into the circuit boards – or that a fuse had blown. For many reasons I never got around to investigating; simply assuming I knew the issue to be a complex thing to solve.

Then, yesterday while talking to a friend about the Caddie, was asked what was wrong with the other chair. Getting down on my knees I pulled the cover off the battery pack while explaining and intending to show the problem. Cover off the batteries I was halfway through the word “fuse” – and stopped cold.

To my bemused horror I discovered a disconnected wire.

Plugging the thing in I stood up, pushed the power-switch and lo an' behold – the chair worked. My friend and I looked at each other for a split second – then bust out laughing. ...needles to say, I wish I had discovered this a week ago when I had to push up the hill. Oh well – guess I was supposed to get some exercise, :: chuckle :: still feel that hike in my thighs!

Yet again I have learned the value of investigation rather than assumption.

I think you know how much I want to write – having returned to the habit I shall never quit again – but it is a long-term means of earning an income. I have had to admit that I need cash quickly and, as a result, been doing the odd scutt-web job here and there – hope to have a bigger one or two in a few days.

I am discovering Lady that not only am I very good at it – even if my techniques are disturbingly arcane to some folks – I am finding that I still really enjoy it. I was just starting to make a name for myself as a tech author when this whole “need money now” thing started, and I put the brakes on quickly. I will have to work twice as hard to recapture that infamy after moving – but I think that rather than just write or just develop there has to be a balance I can strike. Question is, can I find it?

Having made the decision to keep myself actively involved in developing and design I have taken some steps to change a few things. We will see what happens in the end. Ideally, I would have four or five agents in various locations who brought me work.

Currently, I have two – with a third in training (dream on? :) ). If I can add two more in diverse locations, possibly on in Europe as well, then things could go very nicely in about a year. Fortunately I realize that for any of this to work it will require time and patience – I am a firm believer in the fact Lady that there is no such thing as a “quick buck” unless you inherit money or win the lottery – both of which are flukes at best.

As I said, I have taken a number of steps to ensure things overall work a little differently.

Have I missed some holiday Lady? Is there some occasion I am not aware of? I have checked all my calendars – no dates of mention therein. I ask because my neighbors seems to be in rare form tonight. The group across the back fence are all outside chatting it up sipping budget beer and having a good old time.

The noisy, vile, group on the corner are all out blowing holes in the sky with fireworks and whooping an' hollering. Perhaps it is nothing but a bunch of folks cutting loose on a Friday night. Seems though as if that much action is due to something – right?

Tomorrow Lady – I rejoin the ranks of human guinea pig. I am not yet entirely convinced I like the idea, but after wires are placed in your skull it seem foolish to turn your nose up a newly-available; not new; drug. Have you heard of Tetrabenazine? (http://www.rxlist.com/xenazine-drug.htm) some time tomorrow morning the pharmacy I supposed to deliver the meds. I have only been approved on a 30-day basis so we shall see – all things come full circle I guess...

Well Lady, I have packed well today, sent a few bills out, and dropped three estimates on the market – not a bad day in all. I think I shall bid you adieu and go watch some mindless movie; yeah right. Dream Well Lady.
